Was there an A.I.R pump recall for 1996 LT4???
Last year I got a letter from GM that they were doing a voluntary recall on my '96 Z28 w/ LT1 engine. The recall would replace the A.I.R pump.
Girlfriend has a '96 LT-4 Corvette and her SES light just came on yesterday. I pulled the code and got a 1416, "secondary air injection". Looks like she has the same problem.
She called GM customer (non) service and they said there was no recall on her car and she has to pay herself.
Does anyone know wether there was a voluntary recall on the LT4 like there was on my Z28? I would suspect the 2 engines use the same A.I.R pump...
Thanks

Don't know if the vettes had that, but my girlfriend's 95 Z28 had the air pump replaced. They said it was on recall.

I believe the Vette and F-body air pumps are different so I don't think the recall affects the Vette.
That trouble code usually means the AIR check valve needs to be replaced ($20). They get choked up with carbon after a while.

Yeah, I just thought of the valve myself. It only set 1416, which is bank 2. Would think if the pump was bad it would set 1415 (bank 1) also. I will check the valves and clean them out. I cleaned the valves on my Z28 by spraying carb cleaner into them. Worked fine after that.

Just a thought. Even if there was no recall, emissions equipment has to last for something like 100,000 miles doesn't it? That is federal law. Check in the owners manual it will tell you. GM might pay yet.
Good Luck
