Default Newbie with E-Brake that won't lock.

Hello, I am new to the Vette and figured this would be a good place to start. I have had a 95 for a couple of weeks and just last night I went to move it into the garage and when I tried to set the brake it wouldn't catch or ratchet, the brake would hold as long as I pulled on it but wouldn't catch. I looked into the mechanism but didn't have a lot of time to investigate. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Because of wear they sit, they tend to get rusted. Take the cover off and spray it down with lithium grease and at the base of handle you will see a little tooth, that is supposed to bite into a gerar to hold the e brake. That tooth gets rusted into place. Take a screwdriver and pry it out, then hit it with grease. Then keep working it up and down till it works by its self.

I think Randy93 has it; caked dirt, rust and old grease are the problem.

At least with the cover off the mechanism you will be able to see what's up and come with a fix.
