Default Cooling Fan Fuse Location for a 1989

I recently purchased a 25,000 mile 1989 convertible from the original owner. It is in excellent original condition. But, the cooling fans do not come on, even when the temperature shows 230 degrees on the instrument panel.

The main fan works when direct power is applied to the connector at the corresponding relay. The auxiliary fan works when the connector at the temperature sensor is grounded out.

I have also switched out the main fan relay with a known working relay.

Is there a fuse that could be preventing the main fan from operating? I have an '88 FSM, but not an '89. It appears that the fuse block is slightly different between the two years.

I have also searched the archives for this issue, but have not found anything for the '89 MY. Maybe I missed something...

Any help is greatly appreciated. Regards, Ed

The stock main fan on the 1989 turns on at 229. Are you saying at about 230 the fan still doesn't run? Try letting the coolant get to 231,232, or so to be sure it's not working and then start looking for a problem.

Something tells me that 89, doesn't have a fan fuse, like my 86. Foggy memory says the "ECM" fuse, powers the primary side of relay.
Have you checked for power on the + terminal of primary side of relay, with ignition "ON" ? Terminal "C", on my 86.

On my 87, the relay gets power from a fuseable link behind the battery.

Yup, two fans, two fusible links - one for each. Good luck finding the correct fusible link wire - I used an in-line 3AG fuse instead, 25 amp holds the load.
