Default Overdue build update w/some pics

Well after almost five years and countless hours, mods, rebuilds ect.
I've finally got my '91 on the road. Been driving it for two weeks and have almost 200 break-in miles on it. No real issues. Had to get the suspension to settle so I could get the ride height set and last Wed. I took it to work and spent almost 2 hours getting the alignment set dead on (it drives and handles great).
Almost everything is has been rebuilt or replaced and it drives like it, virtually no odd noises or rattles (of course there is the "rocks in a can" though since I'm running a SM aluminum flywheel).

Here's a link to the engine build thread

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...can-start.html

Here's some pics (since almost no one has ever seen it off of jackstands).

315's on the rear

And I was really happy to find even after doing the alignment and taking out the excessive negative camber that the 315's stayed completely under the fenders by using the "Big Doggy" procedure

Lots of new interior pieces, just a couple shots

And yes, the Targa Truss makes this thing feel rock solid when it's in, even more so than the roof

And of course one of the engine

Right now I'm driving on a basic mail-order tune that's working out fine for the easy break-in driving I'm doing right now. Have to get the clutch and engine broken in because I have this whole weekend (Saturday and Sunday) scheduled for dyno tuning.

OH man that is a beautiful vett. thanks for the pix!!! Ok questions;

1.That steering wheel is nice, where did you get it, what brand, how did you get around the air bag? I would love to change the steering wheel in my 93 to that exact wheel.
2.Those valve covers look great, do they fit because the 91 head is not center bolt cover?
3.What intake is that?
4.Are those TPis headers, how do you like them, how did they install, any problems?
5.What is the "big doggy procedure"?
Thanks again for the pix. Super nice car!!!

Nice Job!

The "Big Doggie" procedure is how GM modified Big Doggie (a 1989 Big Block corvette). It enabled the use of OEM 11" ZR1 rear wheels without them sticking out past the fenders. It brings the rear wheels in about 1/2 inch (13.8 mm). The procedure involves swapping the 88-96 spindles for the earlier 84-87 spindles. It also involves machining the brake caliper mounting plates down 13.8 mm.

Are your 11" rear wheels the ZR1 36 mm offset or the Grandsport 50 mm offset?

All looks great but those muffler clamps.

Loose them up and give them a 180 degree turn to hide the bolts

2) AFR 195's (like he's using) allow both types of covers (dual pattern)
3) TPIS Miniram

Dane, I just noticed your roof brace. How do you like it? Do you think it's more "necessary" with the extra ponies?

Also, I vote for the clamp rotation (or welding) too! LOL

"Are your 11" rear wheels the ZR1 36 mm offset or the Grandsport 50 mm offset?"
Mine are the grand sport, if you are asking me? Thanks for the answers to the questions, not about that steering wheel, wow that's nice.
