If your radio is not working at all it probably is the amplifier under the passenger side dash not the radio. Radio sends signal to the amp and amp sends signals to the speaker amps.

You mean the CDM/tuner module under the dash (passenger's side). The amps are located in each speaker compartment.

More likely a fuse or relay (under the dash) blew. I've swapped out a battery before and it never damaged my radio or any other electrical components.

Anyone had good or bad experience with Fixworks.com? I am looking at all avenues on getting my Bose Gold amps repaired(1992 Corvette). I keep hearing of people saying they fixed themselves by replacing capicators on the amps for $30 total but I can't find anyone to share parts and procedure tips. Do-able?

I replied to your IM.
I used fixworks years ago, a lil slow, but ok. A few months ago I sent numerous emails without a response. Also check the ebay remarks for that company.
I have not tried this company, but they return emails and are real c4 bose gurus:

Don't waste your time with anyone other then Dr. Dons.

Used him once and service and turnaround time can't be beat. I know $$ is tight with everyone, including me, but you get what you pay for.

Just a different thought. Why fix a 22 year old radio with no features? Buy a new single or double DIN radio that is Bluetooth equipped, i-pod ready, Sirrus, Spotify, NAV enabled for not terribly much more than fixing the original.
Places like Crutchfield have plenty of choices, adapter cables, etc. to make replacing your old box pretty easy.
Good luck

Got an answer back from Doctor Don's. Kinda of a "go f yourself" reply attitude. Asked a couple questions about pricing and if I could just replace 2 for now then have other replaced at later date, would it damage my system. He said my problem is my amplifier has corrosion and the "ONLY fix is to strip it down completly, that is the ONLY fix". I don't mind matter of fact attitude when you know what your talking about but when your not the cheapest around and don't offer advice on how to take componets out to ship to be fixed like your competitor. You might want to change your potential customer service attitude. Thanks to guys on this forum and a couple others I ordered all the parts to tackle myself ($26.15 plus shipping for all four amps). I'll roll the dice with $26 before shipping out for $400

I advise against dr dons.

First off, i had my speaker amps serviced by him At high cost. I had no improvement in sound quality.

Next off, i had the head unit serviced. I sent him a note telling him the cassette player wasnt working and i got the unit back and the cassette player still wasnt working

It took 2 more go rounds before they finally fixed it.

I do not recommend dr dons.

I don't think it's even possible to blow out all the amps just by putting in a new battery. If that's true most of the electrical components in the car would have blown out also. I call on that diagnosis! I've dealt with Dr. Don's and had no problem at all. A bit pricey, but repaired fine.

Blowing amps by replacing battery...I call BS. Do you know how many batteries I have fed to my 92'. I never had an amp blow because of. My amp just went this past winter and I believe it has to do with age not batteries. I will keep an update on my progress of replacing my own capacitors on both my front and rear driver side amps. Total cost of caps was a little over $17 including shipping. I was going to replace all four at once but figured I would try a front and rear first. If I can I want to make a video for YouTube so if it is a success I can help others in this situation also. God knows i watch enough YouTube videos I might as well pay it forward.

Default Bose

When I had amp failure in my 1985 with Bose, I removed the amps and sent them to Bose for repair. The cost was reasonable and I would use them again.

What exactly have you packed up, radio head, CDM, speakers? Have you done any troubleshooting. What are the symptoms you are having? There is a ton of things to check before packing it all up. There is a lot of good of information on the Forum but without knowing the problem, it's hard to advise exactly what to do. The problem may be in the car and not even what your sending in.

I also live a few miles from FCS, know them and spoken with Don several times. Both companies know their stuff, do a good job as I have talked technical jargon with them.
