Default 87 - MAF Relay is hot

Was getting error code 34 and decided swap out relays after changing them out (both the MAF power relay and MAF burnoff relay), I noticed that the MAF power relay was getting hot and is apparently discharging the battery. Has anyone else had this happen?

Not sure on the '87, but on my '86 the MAF power relay and the MAF burnoff relay are different. Maybe you've got them swapped? Swap connectors and see what happens.

They made them both the same later, but I don't know exactly what year.

Replace both the MAF Power Relay & the MAF Burnoff Relays.

Yes, it has happened to me too.

MAF Burnoff Relay internal contacts sticking together.
Drains the battery overnight as You found out also.

Its the same relays, and even when swapped they heat up

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one But both the Power and burnoff relays were replaced with new ones and they heated up. I ended up going back to the originals to see if I can figure out what's going on. The power relay actually handles other things as well (unfortunately).
