'91 Cooling Fan Issues
Hi Guys,
I have '91 L98 Coupe, Auto with Climate control A/C .
I had not driven the car for a month or so until last weekend.
Car seemed to run fine on Saturday with no issues . Drove it Sunday afternoon and it started to run hot . Neither of the cooling fans are coming on at all, and coincidentally now the Interior Heat/ A/C fan is not working either ? I checked the plastic fuses in both panels and can't find a blown fuse !
Any Ideas ??
Thanks
Graham

Tried that and nothing. Ran car up to a level a little higher than regular operating temp as well and still nothing. Hitting the books now and see if I can figure something out with this !

Did you turn on the A/C? If the fan didn't come on when the A/C kicked in, then you have a relay problem. Someone will post the schematic of it. I don't have my FSM anymore. It's been lost long enough to be considered destroyed.

To do a quick search of the power sources, and your fusable links, find the red or orange wire to the fan relay and ck it...red or orange should be HOT all the time and red with blk strip is hot thru a relay. The relay just joins those two and completes the path to the motor.
All the fusable links are under the battery and the source wires are all on the jump-post behind the battery.
Look for power at the red wire at the fan relay and if thats dead...then go to the source and links. If your red wire is hot, then chances are that the relay has failed.
If you need a way to test,. simply unplug the a/c pressure switch for the fans. That will make the system think the a/c is on and complete the grnd path for the fan relay. If the fans still do not come on, its either power source OR a bad fan motor.
That FSM wire diagram in color is priceless about now....
