Default carb choice

Hello all, was wondering if you could give me some insight here. I'm not gonna list everything I have done. What I would like to know if its silly of me to run an Edelbrock 800 carb or a holley 800. It will be intended for strip use only. Reason I ask is because holley carb are so complex compared to the Edelbrock. So which would you run and why? I currently have a holley 850 but am considering going with an Edelbrock 800 mainly for easy tuning and less hassle. Any info will be great.

I think Holleys are the simplest of carbs.

CARB= Controlled(?) Fuel Leak.

Invest in an upscale FI system.

$2000 vs $800.

Spare parts at the track. Nobody is going to have a spare MAF etc.

Simplicity. I don't have to whip out a laptop to tune my carb.

Back to the OP, I would choose Holley or Demon. Depeding on how many cubes, 800 seems a bit high. I'm running a 750 Race Demon on my 350. I'm at 322 RWHP and 346 RWTQ with an Action Plus intake and a decent cam. Stock everything else.

Btw, Holley now owns Demon.

And Holley yet got sold again
Hope the quality stays

If you go that brand get an HP series...they are excellent .
Every circuit is adjustable unlike the old school types you can really really dial one in and fine tune them.
AED can make you one specd out to your car your motor they are really nice.

I would rather change my afr with a laptop while sitting in a leather seat than deal with fuel bowls and jets.

You could either use a 600 Edelbrock carb and richen it up if need be or use a 750 Edel. carb and probably have to jet it down to lean it out. I used a Holley 3310 on my 455 powered 65 GTO that ran in the high 12's with the stock jetting and quite a few dyno tests by Westech performance out in LA use a 750 Holley on a 350 SBC. I run a 600 Edel. on my 84 and is strictly street driven and rarely sees 4800 rpm and I had to lean the carb out a little for street and highway use.

edebrock = vacuum secondaries

Holley = Mechanical secondaries (double pumper)

for strip only....my vote, Holley

Holleys are easy to tune and have so many tuning kits and parts available.

Get a good Holley book if you dont allready have one.
