Default anything wrong with mounting front hub bolts backwards?

I'm trying to figure a way to mount my cooling shield for brake ducts and to get it mounted right up against the inside of the rotor for max cooling I would either have to shape the metal into a cone (hard to get perfect and would make mounting difficult, or...

I could just buy longer bolts and thread two additional nuts onto the end to hold the shield right next to the middle of the rotor.

Anyone see a problem with this? having the nut on the front instead of the back?

Why not drill your own holes?

A couple of #8's and large area washers should not cause any problems

It's ok if most of your driving is done in reverse.

Haha. Drill my own holes? In the spindle? That seems not good. Maybe im not clear on what im doing. In the pic see the sheet metal, i want to keep it about where it is and if i had longer bolts i could put two more nuts and sandwitch the sheet metal inbetween them giving a conienient mounting place. everything stays the same except in a stock configuration those threads you see would be on the other side.

Make a new sheild big enough to drill holes . I would love to have your sheild s for about an hour . I have a bead roller that would put a nice finished edge and give it some strength .
Ill be doing mine this winter .
Im assuming your building some sheilds similar to Ardwolfs >

I have been racing for a few years on the bolts in backwards. Pulling them through the hole in the bearing flange to change the bearing is a pain. With them turned around with the nut toward the flange makes maintenance easier.

This is just a mock up piece. It is not even in the same spot it needs to be but the principal is the same. I have a thicker piece of aluminum that I was planning on making a cross piece for more support. I think I have seen ardwolfs and yes its basically the same, he just doesn't have pics of the actual mount, but this seems like the best option.

What about using a stud?

Basically that is what it will be. A bolt just will have one side without a nut.

My system: buy bolt 2 inches longer than stock bolt, put bolt in from back of spindle, tighten stock nut onto hub. Then take two other nuts tighten the first one down 1/2 inch on the bolt, then slide the sheet metal onto the bolt, tighten a second nut down tightening it against the other bolt. There will be space between the nut holding the bearing and the two bolts holding the sheet metal. I'll post pics when I'm done
