Which makes more power AFR vs Ported LT1 heads?
I am considering some head work. Either haveing my stock heads maxed out or going with the AFR's for the LT1???
Anyone know which is better bang for the buck???
TPIS has AFR's for $1850.00 and $1500 for ported LT1's exchanged.
Cartek wants $1900 for exchanged LT1's
If the AFR's are better that seems more logical.
Also is there any other shops that can make the LT1's just as good with
less $$$???

TPIS advertises the AFR's complete with 2.02intake and 1.65 exhaust valves and .600 lift springs.
Bigger valves than you can get in a LT1 head, are these more like LT4 heads? They say they are CNC'd
For the money it seems a better deal?!?!

My opinion, for what it is worth, is to go with ported stock (by a reliable porter) or AFR 180 cc heads on an engine that has less than 383 ci and doesn't rev past 6000. Other than that, I would go with AFR 190 cc heads or stage II ported stock heads.

I have AFR 190 cc heads on my '92 LT1.

I am planning on going with a more radical cam at the same time. Like the one used in the Cartek "BIGMAC" package.
My goal is 11.9's with a head/cam swap!
