About 3/4 gallon per quarter mile run.

Better check for leaks or do a serious tuneup that is 5 lbs of fuel.. do some basic math and see how possible that is with less than 2000 hp.............................. If I give you 15 seconds under full power that is 5lbs /15sec *60 sec/min * 60 min/hr or 1200 lbs per hour enough for 2400 hp.. nice engine ya got there ....................................

I've got to drive from the pit area to the staging area, get the oil temperature up to 150 degrees, do a burnout, stage the car, make a mid 10 second run, another quarter mile until the turnoff, 1/2 mile back to the pit area, all this with only 3/4 gallon of $9.00 gallon race fuel.

FWIW: Most people driving a C4 are interested in "Smiles per gallon". OTOH, they can get impressive hwy mileage. It's funny/ironic when people say their vette is their economy car.

I can say for certainty, any long distance I would drive, I'd rather drive the Corvette. With a ZF6, it's easy to beat my DD SUV in MPGs.

But, only on the hwy...when not enjoying what I really own it for!

That said, there a many many threads on this topic.

I don't really care much about MPG other than telling me how truely awsome this thing runs. '94 automatic - 26 MPG highway.

If you read this forum, you mostly read about problems. At the moment, knock on wood, I have the best running '94 on the planet. I'm sure there are faster but none run better.

This very busy and a year old, the truck is running much better this year, but shows the mileage for my L98 for the year I ran it:

Looking forward to seeing how the LS3 does...

In this '88 I'm getting around 30mpg highway; around town depends on how "spirited" I feel...

So far I've done two things to this bone stock '88:
-installed a 160deg T-stat; the ECM will not now call for EGR to pollute the charge while cruzin the freeway.
-pulled the OEM AC/Delco spark plugs and cut back the ground electrodes; this produces a more uniform charge burn for more efficiency.
-tossed the "frisbee" from the front of the water pump pulley; less wasted power == more power to the pavement & better economy.
-on the street I run 35psi around; better cornering and lower rolling resistance than the 30psi that I use for drag racing.

Of course I installed a K&N filter under the cut-back lid but that was more for power than economy.

Next year I plan to have my custom exhaust shop replace the OEM front Y with a 2 1/2" mandrel-bent unit and install a hi-flow cat. Less wasted energy pushing exhaust gas through that very restrictive stock system will gain both power & mileage.

Most engine mods I do are intended to increase efficiency for more power but they (mostly) also bring better mileage too.

My '96 LT4 gets much better gas mileage on the highway (30+) than my '08 HHR (28+) ever thought about doing...the HHR was a work car, thought I was doing good - it could haul a lot more gear, though. So much for econoboxes.

My 6spd/3.45 car is knocking down 20mpg around here. I haven't took it on the hwy yet.

My old CE LT4/6spd gave me a solid 28mpg at 65MPH - higher the flatter and slower I cruised. My new 08 Z06 - close to that as well....

Dave C
71 Demon 340/4spd - 6,750 original miles
08 Z06 Jetstream - 1,250 miles (for now)

The Missus' 2000 C5 (stock) gets as well, if not a little more, MPG than my LT4...

When it had the original 350 - about 7 MPG on the road course
The 383 was about 6
The new 383 should be about the same

On an aging car you may still get what was est new poss. a little less

How guys are outsmarting the engineers and claiming another 4-5 mpg I will never figure out.

Please tell us these secrets
