Mpg

FWIW: Most people driving a C4 are interested in "Smiles per gallon". OTOH, they can get impressive hwy mileage. It's funny/ironic when people say their vette is their economy car.
I can say for certainty, any long distance I would drive, I'd rather drive the Corvette. With a ZF6, it's easy to beat my DD SUV in MPGs.
But, only on the hwy...when not enjoying what I really own it for!
That said, there a many many threads on this topic.

If you read this forum, you mostly read about problems. At the moment, knock on wood, I have the best running '94 on the planet. I'm sure there are faster but none run better.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

So far I've done two things to this bone stock '88:
-installed a 160deg T-stat; the ECM will not now call for EGR to pollute the charge while cruzin the freeway.
-pulled the OEM AC/Delco spark plugs and cut back the ground electrodes; this produces a more uniform charge burn for more efficiency.
-tossed the "frisbee" from the front of the water pump pulley; less wasted power == more power to the pavement & better economy.
-on the street I run 35psi around; better cornering and lower rolling resistance than the 30psi that I use for drag racing.
Of course I installed a K&N filter under the cut-back lid but that was more for power than economy.
Next year I plan to have my custom exhaust shop replace the OEM front Y with a 2 1/2" mandrel-bent unit and install a hi-flow cat. Less wasted energy pushing exhaust gas through that very restrictive stock system will gain both power & mileage.
Most engine mods I do are intended to increase efficiency for more power but they (mostly) also bring better mileage too.

The 383 was about 6
The new 383 should be about the same
How guys are outsmarting the engineers and claiming another 4-5 mpg I will never figure out.
Please tell us these secrets
