Default Damper Size and fitment

Hey guys ,

i cant recall but what size harmonic damper can we fit in an early C4 engine compartment without notching the cross member ? I ran a Small 6.325" ATI on my past setups without any issues and i just upgraded to 7. 074" .. Will i run into fitment issue ?

Thanks

I just installed my ati hub the other night for a 7.5" damper which is supposed to be the stock diameter damper. Biggest problem was installing it, length of installers vs depth of counter bore of the hub and ended up destroying a china installer that was in my tool box for an emergency. Then there was the .0009-.0012 press fit that had to be honed out.

Why do you want to run a larger balancer??? Wouldn't it be less hassle to just use the 6.750 diameter balancer to start with , then you know you won't have problems......Is there an advantage to running a larger balancer that I don't know about.???......WW

I don't see anything wrong with a smaller balancer except for timing marks. Anyone try a fluid damper while were on the subject. I have an L98 and am looking at doing the chain, gears, water pump and balancer since I have a leaking front seal.
