A question about plug gap for the 84..
I am getting a set of plats for the car today..
Seen several posts about gap.. the book and plug manuf. say 45..
I have also seen several comments about the car getting an update and gap them at 35...
Who does what???
Thanks

Either will work fine.
The benefit of a larger gap is that IF the coil can jump that gap under the cylinder pressure, there could be better, more complete combustion w/the bigger spark.
The drawback to a larger gap is that the coil may not be able to jump that gap under high cylinder pressure -you get misfire.
I'm confident that the stock HEI coil has way more than enough to throw a good spark at the larger gap recommendation in a stock or stockish '84.

Make sure you use the stock copper plug with the ridges and oem plug wires, otherwise using the smooth platinum plugs and different than stock wires will slip off the plug and cause misfires.
