Hello all,


I am in the process of changing out the drivers window motor on my 86 C4 coupe. It is the earlier style with the ribbon type mechanics. I have removed the nuts and bolts that hold the mechanism in the door and removed the two nuts that hold the window on as well.


Here's where I need your assistance. I cannot get the window out. I removed the rear stop and attempted every angle possible. Do I need to remove the bolts that pass though the glass? Is there a special tool for this?

the two bolts that hold the regulator to the glass? Oh, yes. They need to come out.

Should be a 10mm... it is on the later style.

There are also 2 bold under the door edge... or might be? I haven't messed with the ribbon type in a few years.

I finally got the window out and have the older style ribbon. If I purchase the newer replacement will the bolt holes align up?

I used a few pieces of heater hose to make my bump stops/
