Default Rear end twist and a thump

Hi, I have a issues I have a 84 c4 its a 4 speed/Doug/Nash...I take off and hear a cluck in 1 gr the rest ok .... now I power shift it feel like the rear-end twist.. I know that not good.. please help any idea's Thanks for your time

Jack up the car...start grabbing stuff and shaking it. Which part(s) is loose?

U-joint on the driveshaft can exhibit clunks during initial engagement from neutral/reverse to forward direction. Very common replacement on my 4x4 truck. Easy enough test and/or replacement. Not sure on durability of half shaft u-joints.

Aluminum c-channel beam that connects the tail of the trans to the nose of the differential.
