Dumb idea....Nevermind.

I read what you deleted and didn't have time to reply. You answered your own question but there's still a lot to be said for radiator shroud efficiency.

It's pretty common on race cars to change the shroud. On mine I cut out all the area behind the radiator. I also sealed all the edges around in front. Next I plan to tip the radiator forward and add a hood vent.

I also had several different fans and even tried none at all. In current condition I have a larger fan because I still drive to the track. The good water pump made the biggest difference. Finally at the track my water temp stays at 180, perfect!

I think I have a new video with temp:

Our cars are pretty different so not all this is relevant but made some of the ideas will help.

First of all, thanks for the video! It's ALWAYS fun to see our cars used in a manner more consistent with their "inherent talents"!

You say you have a larger fan? There's only one I've seen larger than 16" and that's a Derale 2-sp 17" model. Still...it only pulls 2400 cfm which means it's not any better than SPAL's best 16".

(BTW...the more I look at Derale's website, the more I think they might repackage several SPAL fans! LOL)

ChurchKey just posted about the M8 model -- which has been mentioned several times...though I'm not sure anyone has posted it's SIZE? Wait! Could larger refer to CFMs?

Since you "let me" comment on shrouds, how do racers modify the stock unit? Have you seen anyone go to a full shroud (vs the open bottom? Curious if/what's done to make it more efficient?

Those two guys in the video were having a lot of fun so I sat back to watch and snipped that out section of the longer video. Water temp is top left white gauge, I forgot to mention. On the street it can stay as low as 150 but no a/c etc.

The fan I got here:

Mounting isn't to tough:

Maybe a two speed fan would work well for your needs. I remember the Taurus fan mod from awhile back. IIRC it was 3400 CFM.

It's very common to see shroud mods on C5 Z06's. Search the road race section for pics. Some cut holes in the back and use flaps others just cut the shroud out.

Quick search for Taurus fan:
