Default ECM vs CCM? are they the same?

Can someone tell me if the CCM and ECM are the same thing?

If not where is the CCM located? I see the ECM under hood right behind the left wheel well up high.

I have looked moderately through the Shop Manual and do not see a location for the CCM.

I am still trying to find a switched 12V power supply to hook my MegaSquirt up to.

Thank you.

When posting please include Year, The ECM & CCM are two Different things the ECM is like you said Left side above Battery, the CCM is Inside the Car above your Right Knee behind the radio. here is the location shown with Example
http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=...do0&ajaxhist=0

I would NOT be messing with the CCM unless there is a problem with it or a specific well thought out purpose

Default trying to locate a switched 12v power

Yes, good assumption, it is a '93 LT1 with LTCC Coil on Plug conversion.

I am trying to locate a switched 12V power source for the MegaSquirt Fuel injection controller.

Do you know of a good place to pull switched 12V power? I was thinking that I could use one of the CCM component output wires.

Default 12V switched power

I was thinking E5 on your CCM diagram.

E5 is supplied power from the IGNITION IN THOSE "START/RUN" positions through the FUSE BOX - you asked "OUTPUT" (don't know why) CCM1 fuse is likely 5AMP

Default 12V switched electrical output vs. input

I think it might be semantics (I am not an electrical engineer), but I am looking for a good and accessible switched 12V power (I can't believe that I am having this hard of a time finding one) that I can tap into for running a MegaSquirt Fuel Inj controller. It has to be "on" while the engine is cranking (and running). I was hoping for something under hood but will go to the CCM if necessary.

So... in your opinion is E5 a good wire to splice to "out" of the CCM to get 12V switched power?

BTW: CCM1 fuse is in fact 5 amp

Thank you.

CCM stands for Computer Command Module. As far as I know that designation was only used in 1984. It's an ECM (Engine (or Electronic) Control Module) in later years, except when it changed again to PCM (Powertrain Control Module).

The ECM and CCM are completely different parts in my '91 and have completely different functions. As far s power for the mega squirt just use the ign 12 volts to trip a relay connected to the battery and all under the hood. be sure to put a fuse holder and fuse close to the battery.

Actually, CCM stands from Central Control Module and was an "early" term for the device. Later the term for the same device was changed to BCM; Body Control Module.

'84 didn't have a CCM (or BCM)....I think you're thinking of CCC; Computer Command Control.

OP; why not pull your switched power from some place that already exists that meets your criteria? Like the coil power wire, for example?

I used the power to the coil and ran it thru a relay for switched power for an electric water pump conversion on my 96. I used the relay because I didn't want to directly load the coil circuit with the pump. Haven't had any issues to date and been running it for about 6 months.

S Carter pointed me in the right direction on the difference between CCM and ECM. the 1993 LT1 has both an ECM (engine control Module) in engine compartment and a CCM (Chassis Control Module) Right knee of driver center console in driver compartment.

Default MegaSquirt

Ddahlgren,
Have you installed MegaSquirt on your Vette?

No and if I was going to put aftermarket EFI it would be a Motec M84 or something I designed. I have been a Motec dealer for ages and doing custom EFI and induction systems for close to 30 years.

Another vote for pulling power from the ignition coil primary and connecting it to the "control side" of a high quality relay. I'd pull the power for the "switched side" of the relay directly from battery pos. or from the starter power lug
