Default Hydrolock fixed. Idling too high and what's this connection

New injectors, FPR, cleaned TBD with new gaskets. Car runs strong again, no gas smoke or clunk noise from raw fuel in cylinders.
The problem is I cannot get the idle down even in gear.

Also, where does this connector go? Drivers side coming from the bundle pictured. I can find nothing to connect it to. It is the orange and black that are in a 2 post connector.

Hook up scanner and see what the IAC counts are. Probably around 0.

Any way to check without a scanner? Pull code.?

Any idea on the connector?

No, that is the problem with EFI. It needs to be scanned. Something used like a snap on scanner MT2500

Not sure what the location is at this time,

if you have $40 plus a laptop computer or a Microsoft surface as in my case you can buy the cable from ALDL cable com and make your own scanner using the free tuner pro RT software. it is empowering to see exactly what the ECM is seeing. It will tell you right away what the problem is most likely. For example it will show you the readout in real time with the IAC counters at which is why ak is getting.

unless you have a 1985. That computer will not show you anything unless it has been switched into a mode that forces the idol and all of the other sensors to hold a 1000 RPM. In other words you can't get a look at what the 1985 computer is doing at idle. The very nature of looking at DL DL information on a 1985 forces the computer to hold a 1000 RPM.

Well, that is of course a good way of doing things. I like the scanner since it is able to have different modules for my other cars but your way is also a good and valid way.

Turned out to be a pinched runner gasket after removing the runner and putting another new gaskets on it now has a smooth idle and much better performance!
I found it by misting throttle body cleaner in different areas.

Now just need to know what this connector goes to.

Default Hydrolock Injector and FPR update

The job has been finished now for about a week. I put 300 miles on it and noticed much better throttle response, quicker\easier starts even when cold outside, no smoke or nasty fuel smells and best of all no loud clunking noise that was happening when cylinders were full of raw fuel!

The idle is still a little higher than what I would like. I have checked for vacuum leaks and found none.

I still cannot find where those orange and black wires connect. There had been some suggestion regarding the MAF sensor but I have yet to find an "extender" coming from the MAF wiring that would allow hook up to the mystery wire and the wire is too short to reach anything on the top of the motor.

I am not seeing any engine codes so not sure where to check next. What would be the symptoms of:
  1. A disconnected MAF sensor?
  2. A bad O2 sensor?

Thank you for all of the help!!

Both would turn SES on and set codes. Hesitation and stumble on accell for MAF. A degraded or slow moving O2 could also cause hesitation and effect MPGs. Post a pix of connector itself.

comes out of the harness shown in the pick

How about an "end view" of the connector?

Check to see if there is a connector under the plenum about in the center.

Could it be to a removed cold start injector? What year is it?

All the cold start connectors look like fuel injector connectors.

I think it might be the EGR solenoid connector. The EGR solenoid should be mounted on the thermostat housing. This is what mine looks like:
