Dipstick and installation of the TPIS longtube headers
Hi.
I have ordered the TPIS longtube headers. I see that the dipstick tube can make problems.
The question is. Can I install the headers without taking the dipstick tube out of the block???
Are there other things to take care of?
The headers should be corrected for the #7 sparkplug clearance as I have the stock cast iron heads.

You'll need to pull the dipstick tube...it isn't a big deal really. Follow the installation instructions and you will have the headers in quickly. Mine were touching on the front diagonal brace bolts and I had to do a few modifications there...it's in the instructions.
The only thing I found on my TPIS headers that was an issue was the clearances for wrenches on the bolts. Get some ARP 12-point bolts (the heads are MUCH smaller) by using the old bolts for length measurments.
I had to take a washer and grind one side flat to put behind the dipstick tube when I re-installed it. Otherwise it won't stay in place.

Mine slid right into place. I did take the dipstick out, I had to make some modifications near the frame rail for clearance, and my fuel lines were touching the header.

I had a hell of a time removing my dipstick tube.I had a put a set of vicegrips just underneath the hook for the header bolt and from underneath the car bang upward on the vicegrip to get it to come out. Do yourself a favor and go buy a new one as they can get pretty banged up during removal.
Here are the angled braces under the car that have to be removed for the header install. (and before anybody says  "your leaking coolant", I'm not, I had drained the block)
Wrapping your fuel lines and starter is good added insurance. I did have to move my fuel lines around a bit, hope this picture helps.

Her is the starter wrapped and how I tucked-in the wires to keep them from getting scorched.

You both helped and hurt yourself here. Look at the how the clamps pulling the fuel lines back are metal against metal. If they vibrate a lot they may cut into those fuel lines after a while.

I just can't see that happening Brian, But I'll keep an eye on it.

When you re-install your dipstick tube, put some RED Locktite on it. This is an actual recommemdation from GM. I did this when i replaced my dipstick tube, and it snugged it up and it doesn't leak.
