Default Coolant leak intake manifold after changing gasket

Change intake and plenum gaskets now have coolant on top of manifold coming from right front. I used Felpro gasket and put RTV around passages, also Permtex 2 around bolts. Hate like hell to take it off again and start over. I have heard others with similiar problems and they have left the leak and it eventually stopped. Is this a common occurence, what are the odds of this leak stopping?

If it is just a little leak, retorque the intake base bolts on that side.

BTW, did you chase the threads in the heads & on the bolts? I used a chasing tool set from Sears to clean both before assembly.

Just to make sure, you did replace the lower intake manifold gaskets ?

Where is the coolant leaking from ?

When torquing the base down, I did mine in about four times

10 ft lbs, 20 ft lbs, 30 ft lbs and finally 35

Let it sit over night and re-torqued down to 34 ft lbs again.

I used liquid tephlon on the 12 intake bolts

Looks like it's coming from the front right side not sure if it's from the bolt. After a ride this afternoon it now does'nt appear to be leaking this was the first run after doing the gaskets. I'll check again in a couple days. I had planned on going back to re-torgue the manifold bolts, can I use the same gaskets again on the plenium and runners or do they have to be replaced,? I didn't use anything on the runner gaskets, only RTV on the intake manifold.

Check your shop manual. There's one or more bolts on the front right - maybe the runner bolts - that need some sealant on the threads.

I had the very same thing happen to me. The good news is it's a VERY easy fix.
