C5 Rims on a C4, do they stick out like ZR1 rims?
Does anyone know if a 10.5" rim backspaced for a C5 would stick out as far as a GS offset rim or a ZR1 rim?
Thanks

My feeling is that they wont because I belive the offset is in the sixty something mm range. It would be nice to know for sure so if anyone out there is running 18x10.5 let us know how they fit.

Are you speaking of a stock C5 rim on an 88 and up (not ZR 1 or GS)?
If you are, the wheels do not "stick out" They fit just like original

I am not too sure about the 10.5" but I have the 9.5" Y2K's and they are the opposite. Sort of "tucked in". They still look nice.
Hammer, we'll have to meet up at one of the corvette challenges at Englishtown next year. I'd like to see your car. :yesnod:

HeyJim.....
I think the 10.5" would fit it perfectly.... I havent gotten the C5 rims on my car yet.. but everyone else says they tuck under a tiny bit... So the etra inch prolly puts it right where it should be
Coming down the the finish line wiht that thing... Cant wait :steering:

The OE C5 wheels are 18x9.5" on the rear. OE Z06's are 18x10.5" on the rear (offset= 58mm). I've got rear Z06's on the front and back.
They fit fine with 295's on the front.
But they rub a *little* on the back (also with 295's). I've just never got around to bending or removing the splash shield. The tire doesn't hit anything else, just the splash shield.
There is plenty of clearance on the outside of the wheelwell so I might get a slim (~1/8") spacer. But the rub isn't bad enough.

Re: C5 Rims on a C4, do they stick out like ZR1 rims? (chaos on wheels)
chaos,
Thanks for the info.
I originally wanted to go with 10" fronts and was thinking about going smaller.
After seeing your post, I'm holding out for what I want.

How is yours coming? I know that it's been a long time in the making for you too. I haven't had my car running reliably now for 2 seasons. This build will change all of that I'm sure.
Back to the wheels, you might want to consider going custom (CCW, Simmons, HRE, Fikse for example). You eliminate a lot of the potential issues of rubbing and fitment as you can get exactly what you want made. My Simmons were custom made as are all of the Fikse/CCW/HRE etc.. and I haven't had a lick of trouble with them.
Good luck,
Ron

It's been down for over a year, finally coming to an end now... I was planning on using a custom wheel when the time came, but a set of Fikse FM5's from a C5 are available. I'm going to pass and wait until I have the money to purchase exactly what I want.
