My Bonneville Project up date

Safety Car
Ok its next year, and the motors about to go back on the dyno, with new profiled cams to make power up to 9500 rpm, ( we flattened off between 8000-8500 on the stock cams) also a bump in compression to over 15:1
Wish us luck and come see us at speedweek 2015 as the ZR1 is about to be King of the salt. all we need is 1/2 mile per hour improvement from last year to set a new record.

This is so awesome Dave is this the motor going 9k+ on youtube on the engine dyno? Ill re-read the thread before I ask too much. Just wanted to mention it here but if you guys get videos from the runs Id be happy to try and edit some for you and post them if you were ok with it? I love posting my car videos on instagram to get the zr-1 the spotlight it deserves (over 90k likes in one day yesterday! ) and your car definitely deserves some attention !
One of the biggest issues is the density altitude on the salt runs about 8000 feet, so the thin air is a bitch for a naturally aspirated motor. So bumping the compression from 14:1 to over 15:1 should help.
Last year we ran very close to the record with dismal salt conditions, there were soggy areas in the track and I could really feel it. On one run it had rained 30 minutes prior at the 5 mile, and when I drove into that area of high humid air it felt like a wall!! So good track this year will really make the difference

The car runs in the GT or grand touring. It has a C motor with is from 305-372 CI and is naturally Aspirated. So it's a CGT class. The only modification allowed is to the Hood. Current record is 230.450. Held by Duffin in a 1987 C4. With a nascar motor.
I want the record with a number matching corvette motor so I picked the Lt5

Another, who has enjoyed and respects what you're doing, for the marque and the kids.
Having done a bit of Vette work, over the decades, I've some inkling of this effort, albeit on a smaller scale.
My pal takes his MH annually, and I want to join in.

What is your date for running this year? Been raining a lot lately. :/
Could you gain any mph w/some underbody aero? A pan?

the car is cleaned up in all areas that the regs will allow, " Panning not allowed in the GT Class". We spent a wad of cash in the wind tunnel last year and learned a few things ( secret stuff) I will say that the wide butt of the ZR1 did not hurt the aero.

I may venture out to watch you run. I'd LOVE to see that car in person!

Tom we hang a set of dummy stock mufflers in that hole on each side but that's the best that can be done the tech guys look for any changes that would effect aero from a stock application
Hope you can make it out to see us

Speedweek has been canceled due to poor Salt conditions, Good Salt was found for the first two miles then it became mushy and thin due to rains in early July. Team ZR1 is now planning to attend World of Speed September 12-15 and is praying for Hot Dry days.
I would like to give a special shout out to Jerry's Gaskets for their support of our efforts. We are running all his Gaskets and seals Plus his Timing Chains in the new Build.
Corey Henderson did a fantastic Job unlocking the remaining potential of the LT5 372 motor. The new custom cams have allowed the engine to take advantage of all Head, intake and exhaust work. The Hp curve is now a linear rise to 8500 and we have added significantly to the top end. The motor is as lumpy on the bottom end as a bowl of mash potatoes mixed by a one armed man on a slick counter.

Sorry to hear that. The piece in the SLC paper is not too optimistic.
Can I use that?
