how do you figure that engine would behave in a street car.

Hell, it barely idles at 2-3k RPM! Think about that and the varius engine shops who crow about the tractibility of their engines as "grocery getters" that make great power. I just watched a video about a NC race engine shop's SBC that made nearly 1680 hp and idles like a stock engine.

One aspect of Corvette engines I like is the low-end torque versus the 3000+ rpm req'd by some other engines, before they come alive.

This is the type of motor that hits hard when asked. And should only be driven aggressively . So. Yes I could go to the store, just don"t aske me to get eggs.

Dave.

It makes sence because your talking about an engine for the street. We all like low end torque... it saves clutches also !

The 1680 hp motor isn't running any boost at idle and therefor can live at low rpm with the mild cam it has.

Nope, hope this will satisfy your needs

just off the dyno, had to find enough fuel pump to feed the beast.

Have some more work to do on the exhaust. I think I need to extend them out past the spare tire tub as it is all melted. Also it will clean up the air leaving the car. That was a 8000 RPM pull

Do rules allow for a diffuser? Im working on one for my car right now but Ive seen underside shots of the sledgehammer and they didn't do much under there so it may be more for aesthetics. Curious as well do you have a lexan windshield as well? thinking to replace all my glass with lexan

Time to update the progress of the Beast: we are prepping for the 2017 speedweek Aug 12-19. Last year we had horrible conditions with the car never being able to complete the course as it got loose in the 3-4 mile section resulting in sideways chute pulls at 225 mph. Very exciting to say the least. But it is clearly evident that the hp is there for a record if we can stay hooked up.

Currently working on a prototype of a larger throttle body in the hope of a few more hp.

Oh and a big shout out to Jerrys Gaskets, we lost a freeze plug out the back of one of the heads during a run, the motor got smoking hot but the Head gaskets held!!

Dave
