Code 31??
So the ZR1 has been acting up, idle speed is variable, but seems to settle down after the car has time to run for a while. BUT on the way to work today she starts bucking and missing at around 4000 rpm and then I get the SES light. In steady state driving she seemed OK.
So using the paperclip method I determined I have a code 31 Camshaft Sensor Circuit OR RR Wheel Speed Sensor Fault. The reason I am bringing the wheel speed sensor into the equation is that when I used the paperclip method, both the SES and Tire pressure monitoring system lights were blinking, but not at the same rate. Also as soon as I jumped A and B the radiator cooling fans came on. Did I do something wrong?
If not where do I look to begin solving the Code 31 Cam Sensor issue?
THANKS

On the left side either on the head or the block but it wasn't a pain to get to or replace. Now cost, thats a different story. I think I paid close to $200 for the part.

I removed the sensor day but could not find a replacement locally, Although I did not check auto zone, ill do that now. It was leaking and the wires were soaked in oil, I was hoping that cleaning up the wires and sensor would help, but no.

What do you mean, the sensor has to fit in a hole in the block and is sealed by an oring. If the diameter is too large it won't fit in the hole. Or are saying the shield will not fit.

There is a small shield that protects the sensor. When you pulled the sensor out you should have had the pull the shield first. This is 2 pieces.

Yep, the shield will not go back on without modification. At least changing the sensor cured the code. Seemed to solve a number of issues actually, the idle is steady now and right at 750ish rpm. She seems to run smoother as well. Which makes sense if the ECM was getting an erratic signal from the sensor.
