Default Hi. Looking for a ZR1-C4.

Hi.
I'm new here. I'm looking to purchase a ZR1 C4.
Had lots of cars.
The design agrees with me more as I get older.
No B.S!
What to look out for and prices of an excellent ZR-1-No Convertible, thank you.
Chuck.

The only convertibles and automatic trans ZR-1's were done after market.

Hi Chuck--
There is a wide variety of years (90-95), condition and price. Depends on what you are seeking. As noted elsewhere, no convertibles and all are 6 speed manual transmissions. About 80% of the 6,939 Zr-1s were produced in the first three years, with 448 being produced each year in the last three years. The last one was produced in April 1995 and is in the National Corvette Museum. All are quite similar although typical of end-of-model run cars, the later years had some early issues engineered out of them. Still, any well maintained ZR-1 should be fine. The engines are remarkably durable. ZR-1s can be had for a little as the teens or low $20s for good drivable cars. The later cars are a bit more, in the low $30s to low $40s typically according to recent sales and some price guides. Some people prefer purely stock cars; many of us here prefer to do some modifications to our cars. Mine is one of the last 95s produced with some extra horsepower and regular service by Marc Haibeck, one of the ZR-1 world's best known experts. Here is a link to my listing here:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...on-510-hp.html.

I would be glad to talk with you about it or about ZR-1s I general. I have owned a ZR-1 for most the last 20 years, and there are many, many more on this forum and the ZR-1Net Registry (http://www.zr1.net/forum/index.php ) forum who have great knowledge and expertise on these terrific cars. Good luck on your search. --Bob

Personally I think that insults are uncalled for in general on this forum and in particular in this thread. If someone joins this forum and says he is new and looking for information, why not simply answer his questions with civility? Do we have so many members that we need to drive new ones away? --Bob

You havent been here long enough to understand. This happens routinely, a brand new member pops up just to inflame the ZR-1 Community. Seen it 100 times before over the last 10 years.

The C6 community used to find this amusing for some reason. Now that the C7 has hit not so much. Trust me hes a just troll just trying to bait the ZR-1 Community. I appreciate your good nature but been down this road to many times before. Hes not looking for a ZR-1. Hes looking to waste you time. Just like the OP put it. No B.S. ! GC

The convertible and automatic comment is trolling for sure- just trying to see how many people will waste their time typing out a long response. The join date too...

Well guys, if you check out all of his other posts (17 now), he's not posting the typical troll responses. Seems legit to me. And how many non-knowlegeable ZR-1 people know there are no 'vert and auto trans cars?

Some people have more cars by 25 than some do in a life time. They are out there.

And that's a South Park clip in his avatar. Surprised you couldn't recognize it since it has been on roughly 17-18 years now.

For the record I have been on ZR-1 and Corvette forums for as long as they have been around. For a long time I had actually avoided this forum and instead opted primarily for the ZR1 Net Registry forum because of a prevalence (in my opinion) of these types of responses. I enjoy this much more when people are more tolerant and polite. I think it is much better that if you think the OP is a troll just skip his posts and go on to something else. No need to inflame the situation. I don't mind spending my time responding to a question that on its face appears legitimate. If it turns out I wasted my time, well, it is my time and that just doesn't bother me so much --Bob

as he only joined 4 days ago, that not being a negative, but if you go into his stats and look up his posts, they appear to be well, non-car related and meaningless IMO.
But on the other hand I always enjoy the informative posts that us ZR-1 owners respond with, always an enjoyable read!!!
As far as the OP goes, he has nothing else better to do JMO.....

I figure some of you have me wrong. I have plenty of time to purchase a vehicle. I won't do it till late Winter/early Spring. I do enjoy off-topic very much so don't assume I have nothing else to do!
Last 4 cars I've owned were-Porsche 928 GT-Porsche 928 GTS Lotus Esprit Turbo and E55 AMG. As of now I'm riding a MercedesB. 400 SE. I'm not a MB Guy but I really loved the E55!
I'm not in a rush to buy a car until I feel it's right.
I did own an 1981 Corvette. My Buddy has an 84.
I was curious about the newer Vettes and when I see a C4 it attracts my eye moreso than before.
Cheers.

I noticed a very nice (no affiliation) one owner '90 ZR-1 on Palm Springs, CA craigslist today. Red on black, 26k miles, asking $20k. Might be worth pursing if you are in the market. 1990 ZR-1 Link

Concur completely.....no matter the static in the background there is always some great technical information and/or valuable suggestions provided from personal experience.

Besides....I am not a psychologist but am handy with tools............so I stick with tools
And.....and.......my ZR-1s are FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAST with NO Service lights (NO CODES) at any time on the panel except the FULL POWER Code on the Panel with the 1990s which difference I like a lot over the 1991s-1995s

I do have the Last 1990 sold to the public (#3032) and a 500+hp 1991.

So.........LET R RIP and lets keep sharing opinions related to the ZR-1s

Whoops...March 21/1970.

And for what it's worth about my Avatar, I used to watch S.P with my Son. Perhaps 8 years ago I saw this episode. When Randy Marsh got pulled over by the cops and said this, I never laughed so hard in a very very long time. So it stuck with me.
Even now when I read it I chuckle.
It was hilarious to me and still is.
