Default Astro-Top Alternative?

The first original equipment manufacturer Astro top lasted about 15 years before the glue literally delaminated from the glass and flew off while I was on the highway lol. (thankfully I didn't hit another car)

So about two years ago I bought a replacement from Astro tops and this One also the delaminated after about three years.

So I'm about to purchase another one and I'm wondering if there's any alternative to The metal frame glass glued construction? Maybe a solid piece so there's no glue to delaminate? (A.k.a. screws right through the roof? Is there anything out there that's better? Thanks guys

The Melrose top I had core swapped for was just fine during the time I had it. With as much as they cost (including shipping) you might consider finding a hardtop and paying $300-$400 to color match it at your local preferred paint shop rather than spending $700 for a re-lensed clear top.

With my 95 I had a good experience with Melrose and would recommend them. The clear top that came with the car when I bought it was a replacement (don't know what brand) and had delaminated. I traded it in (they reuse the factory frames) and it was a perfect match for the original tops except without a VIN stamp. Fit fine after following the initial installation instructions. That said, I far prefer the solid top and in 20+ years of two top ZR-1 ownership, I probably used the transparent ones no more than two or three times, the rest of the time the clear tops sat covered in my garage or basement. When I ordered my 2016 Z06 I skipped the two top option and went for a solid color roof. --Bob

If your top is still in good shape, except for the bond to the aluminum frame, it's fixable! I did mine at least 9 years ago, and I don't even think about it any more.
