This corvette was 5k about 2 months ago, not sure why it's dropped so much but doesn't look like a bad deal, low miles too. This is in connecticut not sure where you're located.

I also ran a CarFax on it by VIN. One front-end collision and one rear-end collision. Around 15 previous owners, with several of them reselling it within months.
Spent most of yesterday watching YouTube videos of people having bought the same year car in great condition for not much more money.
I looked closely at the side view pic, no Crossfire Injection on front quarter panel. I also saw what someone in a post had commented on about the divider not looking right and not even reaching around to the license plate recess.
Anyway, I am not going to buy the car and that decision is based 90% on what y'all said and the CarFax finished it up with the remaining 10%!
Thank you all for being honest.

2015 C4 of the Year Finalist
Liquidtree be patient as this is the time to buy a Corvette. The C4 is one of the best performing cars/value for the money you're going to spend. I would personally look for 86 year and up cars if possible. You cannot go wrong with the C4 and there are several listed here on our form that represent well and would be a great first Corvette for you. There are also several members that have a great deal of knowledge that are happy to assist you. Best of luck in your search!

Burning Brakes
You'll spend much more on the car to get it to a decent level than it will ever be worth. It is amazing how fast these "small" things can add up to thousands. It does not make financial sense.

You probably shouldn't buy the first Corvette you've seen without looking at a few more as well. Once you've looked at a few dozen cars you will start to pick out things to look for and you'll have a better idea of what to expect for the asking price.

If you want to help your daughter out - then help her out, but buying that car is NOT the way to do it. You were smart to not throw wheelbarrows full of time and money into that car. Look at some of the things you know - two accidents reported, and repairs done with parts that weren't right for the car. Typically an insurance repair won't do that kind of thing - so these accident repairs were probably not paid for by an insurance company - and this means that the repairs were done by someone trying to save money - is that the kind of repair you want on your car ??? Who knows if repairs that were needed but that can't be seen were done properly or even done at all ??? Multiple owners over a short period of time is NEVER a good sign...
C4 pricing in general is quite low right now. While the C4's were never produced in huge numbers - they don't get thrown away like most older cars, so are a lot of them out there, and just like boats - the late fall and winter are VERY good times to buy - particularly in the Northern part of the country. There just isn't that much demand for cars like Vettes. Camaro's & Mustangs when the temps are below freezing and snow is falling in various parts of the country. Spend some time looking around - and if you can find a couple of cars at dealerships try to arrange to drive them. I recommend driving a pre 92 and a 92 - 96 (with the LT-1 motor) to get an idea of the difference between the two - there is a significant difference between the L98 and the LT1 motors.
BUT while these are great cars - and are probably the most underrated family of Corvettes right now - remember that the latest C4 was made roughly 20 years ago. Twenty year old cars typically need repairs more often than new cars, and that's certainly going to be as true of C4's as it is for anything else out there. There are certainly some places that do good work - but if you are going to have to pay someone else to do most or all of your repair work - you might want to rethink if this is the car you really want. I'm not trying to scare you away - but you have to be realistic - while the Forum is a tremendous resource to owners - most of the people on here twist their own wrenches the majority of the time.

For my $.02........... i think it's great you want to help out the daughter & beau, but it sounds like this could easily go bad and lead to some hard feelings in the future, possibly not worth it. Maybe pay him to work on your other car?
