Most effective vented hood?
Does anyone have an opinion as to which vented hood design is most effective at venting underhood air?

My own impression, just based on looks, was that this is probably the most effective hood, but I do find it a bit looks-challenged in the lighter colors.

I have the ACP hood....it looks terriffic on the car and works great for venting off engine heat. The ACP hood has more vent area than most other after-market hoods....in comparison the Haltech hood has a much smaller vent area.

I'm pretty sure that's the ACP hood. If so, the answer is yes. Look here:

Just got mine painted and installed yesterday and my temps yesterday afternoon were 5 degrees cooler than in the morning, temp difference was about 18 degrees from the morning to afternoon and I had the AC on as it was showing 100 degress in the run from San Marcos to San Antoinio

ACP also makes the Stinger Hood. I also happen to like and think that the ACP Heat Extractor is a great hood.
So everybody that has a Stinger Hood in the last 1.5 years has an ACP hood too.
As for the heat extracting capabilities.....there are no other systems or FI kit (design) where the demand for extraction is greater then what I have. Top mount turbos produce more heat next to the hood then any other for obvious reasons....the tradeoff that I have noticed is there is far less heat in the floor panels next to the feet. I have driven my car with the Stinger hood in extremely hot temperatures for extended periods of times (100-112*) for hours at a time....and my car continues to operate flawlessly and nothing under the hood (plastic engine parts, connectors, etc..) has any sign of melting or damage due to heat.
The other thing that I like about the Stinger is that there is ZERO visibility loss.....this is because the center section is not raised. If one looks from the side profile it can be observed that the Stinger design maintains the stock lines of the vehicle.
Another hood that is similiar with respect to maintaining visibility and great functionality is the old DRM Heat Extractor Hood.
MCM, ACP (heat extractor vented & Stinger), and DRM hoods are the best hoods on the market....it's nice there are so many choices for folks. The other thing that they have in common is that they all cost some $$.

My temps have been under control with the stock hood and cooling with my heads/cam package. Doug Rippie (DRM) hoods are very hard to find, but I managed to get one last week primarily for looks. It's not on the car yet, but here's a picture of it:

For one it is not the Haltech Hood anymore...but it certainly used to be.

i too wasnt much of a aftermarket hood guy until this one came along!
it follows the stock lines and heights but just looks wicked with the ducting.
