I have a 3.85 pulley and run a 96" belt (it is TIGHT)...

Maybe try a 96.5 or 97? could always pick up a few in this range and return the ones that done fit tightly

if you just do in and say "96.5 in 6 rib", the counter should be able to hook you up.

How much more movement in the tensioner do you have with the 3.85?
What did you run before the 3.85"
What mods do you have on the motor and what psi do you see with that pulley? I also have a 3.85 pulley I could optionally use.

The 96 almost has the tensioner almost bottomed out, but can get the belt on and off using the tensioner and/or using the water pump method...

Stock longblock minus ECS Cam, longtubes and TI exhaust - hit 9.9lbs at 6500 rpm. i swear the boost gauge reads ~11, but per the dyno run, 9.9

I have been running the 3.85 since i had the procharger installed... Ran the stock cam for ~50k miles, just put the ECS cam in two years ago (12k miles ago)...

I have seen others running a 3.85 and in the 11lb range... maybe with the stock exhaust manifolds? It's all in the tune, if you have a good tuner, i wouldnt be worried about running the 3.85.

* Old Bracket, with Fixed Idlers (either size) factory tensioner*

4.75" Pulley = 97.0"
4.50" Pulley = 97.0"
4.37" Pulley = 96.6"
4.10" Pulley = 96.6"
3.85" Pulley = 96.0"

* Old Bracket, with Gates Tensioner attached*

4.50" Pulley = 99.7"
4.375" Pulley = 99.7"
4.10" Pulley = 99.4"
3.85" Pulley = 98.8"

Hopefully this helps. Bob

Awesome info, thanks!

I called procharger and this is what they told me:

3.85 K060998 (couldn't find this on Gates website)
4.37 K060997 ~99.7"
4.10 K060994 ~99.4"

I already have 98.8" belt but that doesn't fit at all. Thanks to your post, its because I'm not running the gates tensioner...I'm running the stock tensioner. So with a 4.25" it looks like I want a 96.6" belt.

Thanks for the help guys. I was afraid I was going to end up with a garage full of belts that didn't work!

I run the K060994 on my 4.10" Pulley... It's 10 psi @ 6700 rpms on my setup!

As per above I tried 96.6" belt (NAPA 060960). This is way to tight. It is on but I had to remove the outside Procharger idler (which is still removed). In addition the tensioner is COMPLETELY bottomed out with ZERO movement....and I still have to squeeze on the outside idler.

Turns out the NAPA catalogue is incorrect. The guy behind the counter showed me part number 060960 and it clearly stated ~6.6". This must have been outside diameter, which is completely worthless.

The Gates catalogue shows K060960 = 96.01" with outside 96.58".

Looks like what I want is:
K060966 = 96.61"
K060970 = 97.02"

I knew the part number indicated the size but I trusted in NAPA....BIG MISTAKE. $48 gone.

everyone is wrong eh?

So return the belt, get your $48 back, and try another size...... sounds like you have a ballpark of what you need, just go up in size a little, etc.

I scratched up the belt a little trying to get it on. The belt is used, I don't return used items. I wouldn't want to pay $50 bills for a damaged item that is supposed to be new so I'm not going to do that to someone else. Perhaps not money lost completely however ... if I ever go with a smaller pulley I can maybe reuse it.

You can get this belt in a HD Green from Gates here: Just look for your part number and order it and you will be very happy!
