Procharger vs Vortech
Looking at supercharges and leaning toward the A@A kit as well as the pro charger There is about $1000 difference in price.. Is the procharger head unit worth that much more?

All three main players make a great range of blowers, there really isnt much between them.
Some will say Paxton is best, some Vortech and some Procharger.
And as you dont specify what actual units you are comparing prices to....there is no comparison to make.

I would be more concerned with the blower kit itself not just the head unit. I am sure a vortech pro charger or Paxton head unit would be fine. The real debate is the brakets plumbing intercooler etc etc.

I just had the a & a kit installed with the v-3 unit on my 98. My installer /tuner always installed procharger units and was kinda unsure about the vortec , but after all was done he said the kit made great power and reluctently agreed the kit was good just a bit different from procharger . It saved me 1000 bucks , 500 rwhp is fun

I ran a DS1C A&A kit on my C5 and it was awesome, can not go wrong if you can find a used kit for sale, cost less. With that being said get either an A&A kit or ECS all is good.
This fall I will finally sale the one from my C5 as I have an A&A kit for my C6 so no C5 in the future now

David, Ask the question how many people have purchased a Procharger kit and then paid even more to upgrade the bracket to A&A due to issues. Regardless of the head units, the rest of the kit from A&A is far superior.

I thought that Procharger finally gave up and copied A&A's bracket.

Although I run the Procharger set-up -
You cannot beat the A&A complete kit price!
Just get the Self Contained head unit for sure!
Thanks,Matt

Thanks for all the kind words guys, we appreciate it!
OP, Vortech's self contained design is much nicer than the other brand. They have a vent to relieve any internal pressure that may build up, also keeps the oil seals from being pushed out. There's a stainless steel braided line attached to the bottom of all V3 (self contained) blowers for easy oil changes, you don't need to remove the blower from the bracket, or use a turkey baster to suck the old oil out.
We do sell quite a few of our C5 A&A ProCharger brackets to guys battling belt alignment and belt slip issues with their ProCharger kit. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Melting Slicks
Here's one data point...
I am not a big fan of Procharger and I know lots of guys run them and are happy but here is my experience. I had a P1SC head purchased in 2005. After 30K miles and 5 years later, the Procharger started leaking oil! The unit was sent back to Procharger for repair and then sent to the performance shop where it was reinstalled on my car.... only to find the P1SC headunit still leaked! It seemed completely inconceivable to me that Procharger did not bench test or poorly bench tested the headunit before sending it back out.... especially knowing there would be labor required to put it back into the vehicle.
Leak shown was only after a few hours of driving.
This experience seriously eroded my confidence in Procharger and coupled with reasons stated later in this post, I unilaterally decided to no longer use their products. In fairness to Procharger, I believe they would have corrected this situation but I chose not to give them the opportunity to do so. I switched to a new Vortech VS2. The only regret is that I loved the "clang-ity clang clang" of the Procharger. Everyone would stop and stare because it was obvious there was a blower packed under the hood. The Vortech makes noise too, but is quieter. I have had the Vortech for a year and so far no leaks!
I saw a few guys really favored the self contained system. Sorry, but I disliked it. For one thing, unless I'm in error (and feel free to correct me on this), you're at the mercy of Procharger for your supercharger oil just like the US is at the mercy of OPEC for its oil. On one occasion, it leaked during shipping. Credit to Procharger, they did send me new oil when I reported this. But then some time later, when I ordered additional oil and stored it in the garage, I made the mistake of not storing the shipped box such that the oil bottles would be standing upright (I didn't open the box as the oil was for future use). NO WHERE did it state that oil should be stored standing up. I called Procharger and explained what happened. This time, they wouldn't resend new oil to me. Some will side with Procharger on this (and that's okay) and I say I was just dumb for not storing the box such that oil was standing upright... but I beg the question... shouldn't the package alert you to this?
In closing, I want to be clear as I stated that I made the decision not give them the opportunity to address the repaired blower issue and I am sure they would have taken care of it. While some may not feel I am justified, I am disappointed they didn't take care of the oil leak storage issue.

I prefer my Novi with tapped oil pan, whenever I change my car oil, I take care of the head unit as well! Killing 2 birds with 1 stone!
