When I was standing next to the car waiting for the fuel to drain from the tank today, I looked down and found this.

I remember I ordered the car on 9-9-01 and when 9-11 hit two days later, seriously thought hard about cancelling the order, feeling it was a selfish act to be considering when all the terrible things were happening in the country. Then I thought better of it when I realized what better tribute to make than invest in an American icon at a time when we needed to reaffirm ourselves. I'm glad I didn't cancel the order.

Very impressive build you have going on. The diff should arrive in Calgary on Wednesday. Not sure if anyone wants to ship a diff/trans brace up to the great white north, even contacted ECS.
Looking forward to following your progress!!!!

Man, I thought I had OCD when it came to a clean work area. But this is just a whole different level! Most hospitals are not that clean. First time I've ever seen a drop cloth like that taped to the floor, but I always wondered how people with garage tiles kept oil from seeping through between the tiles. Congrats to you on a gorgeous car and garage.

Funny you should mention hospitals, Neil, because I am a medical engineer.

And it gets worse - there is plastic taped down under those drop cloths.

Nice build! I think I found a car actually cleaner then mine (cause I'm so **** when it comes to the vette's)
Couple of questions:

What size wheels and tires are you running? Been looking over the last couple of weeks at CCW's and can't land on a style much less the size. So I quit thinking on the style till I get the size right.

I'm full bolt on and could only squeeze 459/420 twenty out of the stock 346 bottom end. I have Trickflow 215 heads shaved 61cc which on paper say's I'm 11.1:1 compression. I want to go FI with a D1SC. I see you said you're at 11:1. Did you get any feedback from shops on the cons of high compression and FI? I've been told to replace my heads because the high compression would burn the stock pistons with FI. I'm only looking to push single digit boost in hopes of maybe hitting 600rwhp.

This car has less than 20K miles on it and the latest build not even 2K. Really don't want to get rid of the heads but I want more power.

So I got somewhat sidetracked last weekend when I went to start the installation of the UPP fuel system I bought here (advertised as unused with no fuel run through it) in the 4-sale section only to discover the filter is full of crud. The rest of the system looks dirty, used and somewhat aged so there was no way I was moving forward with that setup. Last night I ordered a whole new setup online comprised of excellent quality components in a configuration I designed that i feel will allow lots of room for growth down the road if I needed.

Basically I started with the install last weekend with the ECS fuel bulkhead adapter ring. I had to drill the holes out slightly larger to 1/4" because they were smaller than the existing plate holes and would not quite line up to allow all six screws to thread in. It felt like I was about to snap the bolts off to get the last couple on so drilling them out created the clearance I needed and did absolutely no harm. I did overtighten one bolt and snapped it off. (And yes, I used a torque wrench but the long screws twisted too much under the SM's torque value and they are SS.) I drilled it out - yes, with an electric drill -and am still here to talk about it, retapped it and put in a new screw. Anyway, it's ready for the rest of the fuel system that's enroute.

I also mounted the KB BAP as a safety to run the stock pump as a redundant measure. I have the Racetronix PnP harness that I still need to put in when I wire the rest of the system.

Since I'm waiting for the new fuel system components to come next week, I'll probably start the meth injection setup this weekend. The RPM Stage 4 diff should be here next week as well so I need to get the fuel system in so I can reinstall the drive line.

Here are the ECS ring and BAP.

Hmm, need to yank all that F45 crap off to clean up the look for when I install the LG CO's.

Got the Alky Control portion started this weekend with the tank mod and pump mounting. I also did the coil relocation. I fabbed up some brackets and threaded some rod with tubing spacers then mounted them inside the fender areas.

Washer tank conversion for meth

Reinstalled

Alky Control pump

Coil relocation - passenger side

Driver side

Thanks for this thread. It's a pleasure to read you and see a C5 that looks better than new

Just out of curiosity, why did you decide to relocate your coils?

Coil relocation is an esthetic mod - it unclutters the engine bay. I am redoing most of the engine bay harnesses, etc. to clean up the engine since I have everything out and apart.

Fuel components coming in to add to what I already have. A few more fittings on the way.

I know the wife is going to want this as a table center-piece instead of allowing me to install it, hidden inside a body panel. I almost didn't get the Mantic clutch in the car before she had a chance to convert it to a wall-hanging.

It's a little unsettling when they start throwing free stuff in the box and know you on a first-name basis because you're ordering so much stuff.

Ed:

In for the details !

Your car is incredible ! You sure do keep her nice and shinny !

I'm looking to do a coil relocation in the future too.
Just not so sure about having to take my fenders off anytime I need to mess with the coils.
How hard is it to take the fenders off ?

Keep up the good work !

For you and me, not a big deal to get them off but it's not something I'd want to do frequently. How often had you had a problem with a modern coil? That was a factor in my decision to put them there. Plus, I should be able to reach the wires through the cove openings.

RPM Stage 4 diff came in at work today. It's a fully built 3.42 setup with cryogenic treatment and a Quaife setup. Beautifully prepped - can't wait to get it installed and try it out.

Can you remove the fender without having to remove the front bumper ?

I think you are going to make me find a new spot to clean...

Thanks !

Yes, you can.

Can't imagine there'd be many spots needing cleaning on that beauty of yours.
