Default X-Pipe vs. H-pipe

I just put a x-pipe on my 2000 a4 c5 and I have noticed that the car seems to run smoother and quiter. I have the stock exhaust manifolds and stock cats then the xpipe and then the borla stingers quad. I really miss the rumble the car had when it was at idle, eventhough it still has a rumble its not as loud and noticable. Is this normal when adding a x-pipe? What, if any, are the horsepower gains from a x-pipe with the borla stingers?

That's normal. There are no HP gains with an X pipe.
My opinion is that you get rid of most of your drone, popping, and idle rumble with an X pipe on a car with a stock cat forward and aftermarket cat back.

The X-pipe smooths out the flow of the exhaust better than the H-pipe IMO. It may have a tendency to quiet down the exhaust, but in my case it made the tone a little deeper too. I installed mine to get rid of some bad resonance and popping. As fars as HP gains, minimal at best.
