Default Corvette Forum "ROCKS'

Bought a 1998 C5 in Connecticut and picked it up on Thursday. The car is mint but had one minor problem-passenger window did not work. My corvette friend (Tom Powers, a C4 specialist) said lets go to the Forum and see if other owners have had similar problems and how they were solved. On the forum there were many suggestions and in many cases several of you suggested that the motor needed to be tapped with a hammer to "wake it up". I guess if a car sits for long periods of time this can happen. We downloaded instructions on how to remove the door panel and proceeded with the repair. After removing the panel (which came off very easily) we tapped the motor and the window started to work! We assembled the panel back and everything can out perfectly and the window is working great! Your suggestions and "how too" information on the forum was invaluavle to me. I had visions of taking my new vette to the local Chevy dealer here in Vermont for the repair. The repair is done and not a scratch anywhere! Best of all -$ZERO$. Again, thanks to all who post anything and everything on the forum - I will be spending lots of time here reading all the exciting info it has to offer.

Thank goodness you didn't have to take your car to the dealership! You might not be singing such a happy tune!

Unfortunately Dave - the $$$$$you spend on mods usually far outweighs the $$$$$$ you save on D.I.Y. fix-it tips!
