Default Body Control Module (BCM) Cost?

My dealer is telling me the BCM is bad on my 2000 vert. He says the module costs about $800, plus $200 to install.
Does this sound right? Is this a difficult part to install? Don't you just remove the old module and replace with new?
Thanks!

I bought one new off Ebay for $70. Had the seller verify the part number as well and when I received it, confirmed it was indeed new. I haven't used it yet, just saw a good price and grabbed it...for my '99. A Tech 2 is needed to enter the RPO codes and program the security.

Check with Gene at GMPartsHouse for the price of a new one.

Gene will give you a great price.

Just out of interest why does the dealer say you need a BCM?

I've heard a number of reasons over the years and often its . One member was told he needed a BCM to fix an EBCM problem

My initial problem was "Shocks Inop... Service Ride Control"
My extended warranty has covered the cost

Happy to hear that you fixed your problem and it didn't cost you anything. Just wanted to add that when I bought the extra BCM off Ebay, I did it just to have a spare, just in case...down the road as such. It was listed as NEW, therefore, well, it can't hurt to have an extra. Its still sitting here as it never made it to the garage. Again, glad yours in fixed.
