Default Pioneer bluetooth mic placement???

Where are people mounting the mic? I am modding my bezel and am considering putting it in the upper left corner. Will it work well enough there? I would put it through a grommet as shown.

Any opinions on whether or not it will work or how it will look? or ?????

I have the Pioneer mic for the AVIC. Its a clip on so I mounted it on the rear view mirror next to the GPS antenna. It is barely noticeable normally and looks more obvious in the picture. With the roof up it works great. With the higher ambient noise when the roof's down it struggles

I agree that the pillar would be a good location at face height but you'd then have to get the cable all the way down to the console to hook up. With the long cable run, the losses would be higher.

I'd go with your location. It'll be a short hook up to the HU. It may work just fine as you have a coupe. You may have to talk at it.

I was concerned about wind noise when mounting on the A pillar. Good to hear that is not an issue.

I was thinking on the A pillar would be a bad spot too. I was thinking wind noise would be too great. I have the kenwood bluetooth. It has a mount with double stick tape. I put it on the IP just in front of the fuel gauge. Can hardly see it there and everyone I have spoke to on it says it sounds good.

I know this is an old thread, but I was looking to do the same install. Can you tell me what you ended up doing if you don't mind? Also what type of grommets were those?

Thanks

I'm interested in this subject as well.

I have been tentatively planning to make an extension and install it off the support arm for the rearview mirror.

I mounted mine right in front of the gauge cluster. It might not be ideal for the kind of mic you have though. Everyone I talk to says my voice comes through very clear with no feed back.

Default Here is my idea

I have a C5 coupe and decided I wanted to tackle this a bit more oem looking. I ordered a OEM Bluetooth mic for a C6 and installed it in the A Pillar. I will upload picture of the pillar installed tomorrow if you like. Here is what it looks like in the pillar.

Default C6 Bluetooth microphone

Here it is installed in the car. I am really happy with how it turned out. Looks OEM.

Thanks for all the posts guys, I ended up using a piece of double sided tape and attached it tucked away by the rearview mirror. It turned out great

I mounted my mic and GPS antenna on the back side of the mirror. Both are hidden and work great.
