My IROC has one of those f'ers. I've never had trouble pooping it out. Flat tip screw driver and pop.
It's the same push button **** that the Vette's and 4thgen F-Body's use.

The "demon key" in a C5/Z06 M6/M12 manual transmission is not to be confused with any fastener used for push button ***** on AOD automatic transmissions...ours in special...

I always use clamp a set of vise grips on it and give it a tap with a hammer to get it out.
