Default Headlights won't go down after HID install (w/ resistor)

I installed my HID kit today along w/ the resistor from the vendor and everything works, EXCEPT, if I turn off the lights at a normal speed, the headlights will not retract. If I pause a second after going to running lights, then go to off, the headlights will always retract. I've upgraded to a 20 amp fuse. Any thoughts?

Move the headlight stalk to the high beam position and watch what happens.

I understand that the high beams can be used to retract the lights if one does not have a resistor, but that's not the case for me. My headlights retract fine, but only if I pause for a second while doing it. I will give it a try though.

My first thought is the resistor is likely defective. Do you have a meter you can check it with?

Ok I figured it out, the resistor was wired backwards. I assumed that if the HID system was wired and working w/o resistor, I could plug in the resistor w/ connectors in the right direction, it would work. Turns out the resistor had its pins backwards (in addition to the HID wire themselves being backward from the factory). Works now.
