Default Auto Headlight Defeat

Does anyone know how to defeat the auto headlight control so as to preserve the life of the headlight motor gear?

You have Twilight Sentinel enabled in Options.

On the IC (buttons to the right of speedometer) go into the options page and scroll down to Twilight Sentinel, set that to off and you're good to go.

Only problem would be if it is not a US car (Canada), not sure you can shut that off on those.

Good luck

You can pull a relay from the kick panel on the passenger side in a Canadian car. It's great because your fogs and tails will still come on at dusk, but you've got headlight control.

you can use a tech II to make it work

Your profile does not say where you are. If you are in Canada and have a Canadian export model you may not be able to defeat the twilight sentinel from the DIC - it may take some tech II programming.

would this work on US cars also? i have twilight disabled, but i wouldn't mind my fogs and tails coming on automatically.

Go to the fuse panel in the passenger floor and remove either relay #42 or #43. I dont remember which one. The only thing it will disable is the "twilight" feature.

Default Auto Headlights

I have a 1999 (Canadian) and it was fuse #44 (passenger side) that canceled the auto feature but left everything else working.

Have a '02 C5Z and I located the fuse panel under the pass. toe board, there is a relay 44 ( not a fuse) related to the auto lamp feature
how do you remove this relay, it's not like a fuse whereby you can pull it out ?

On a 2001 Canadian car, to defeat the Auto Headlight pop up feature, remove Micro Relay #44 under the toe board.

The relay might be tight but it will come out with some good pulling.

Finally succeeded in pulling micro relay #44, took a little gentle effort with a pair of pliers.
Works great, no more annoying auto twilight., everything else work fine.

So if you have the twilight feature turned "ON"...then your headlights DO NOT come up automatically but your fog lights, tail lights and dash lights all do?

Thank you,

Donnie

edit: and it's relay #44 only on Canadian or...? I just see someone mentioned 42 or 43..

I'd suggest you pull #44 relay and see what happens. If you don't like the result you can simply put it back in.
