Default Sick and tired of sway bar bushing creaking!

I bought my 03 Z06 last fall with upgraded swaybars (T1). At the time, the bushings didn't make much noise. In the last few months, however, they creak badly, especially at low speeds. I searched here for solutions and the consensus seemed to be to use a heavy grease. I bought marine grease and it stopped the creak/sqeak sound for a few days, but recently it's just as bad as ever.

How can I solve this problem?

Thanks

Another trick that works well is to remove the braces, sand them with 320 grit paper, soak them in motor oil overnite, and then spray them with white lithium grease before re-installing them.

I was told that teflon tape on the bars is better than grease and lasts longer. That's what I did to my C6 Z51 bars and they are silent for now but it has only been 2 weeks and about 600 miles since I installed them

If the noise is from the bushings moving on the bracket that holds them on then maybe they are just not perfectly lined up with the slots on the bracket.

I don't have a Z but I used anti seize compound on my 1999. Granted, it's messy. Been a year and still quiet.

Can you get the teflon at auto parts stores?

Thanks for the input.. I'll have to crawl under and see if I have rubber or poly bushings, can't remember off hand

I agree 100% with the above, but I'd use silicone grease instead of the Lithium. However I might be wrong, if so I'd concur with the above ! Good luck.

Teflon tape is also known as plumbers tape. You can get it at any home improvement store for like $1. I paid 97 cents for mine at Lowe's and then used it at all four bushings on my 03Z and it shut all the squeaks right up. Easier than pie! I rolled it around a 2" wide section of bar at each corner; several layers thick. That was all it needed.
