Driver's side door won't unlock
Hey guys, My driver's side door won't unlock with the key fob. Also, when I put the car in park, only the passenger's side door unlocks. I replaced the car battery because it was a little slow to start but it didn't help the door unlock issue. Also, I replaced the battery in the key fob without any improvement. Any ideas? Thanks.

Agreed. Always check the fuses first. It supposedly is possible to swap the door modules to verify if its the cause but they are not the same so they must be put back. There is a relay inside the module for the lock and its probably bad if not the fuse.

If you end up needing a door control module let me know.
I have a few for sale as well as the repair parts. You wont find a better price.

My passenger door is going bad again. I had the module replaced under warranty but its gone bad for the 2nd time.
I have the relay and its on my list of jobs to do.

Thanks for the suggestions. I switched out the fuse for the right side door with one of the spares in the fuse box under the hood and that seems to have fixed it. I didn't think it was the fuse since it was intermittent, but you guys were right. Thanks again!

Just for ha-ha's try re-programming fob too.
1. Turn the ignition key to ON.
2. Clear any warning messages on the Driver Information Center (DIC) by pressing the RESET button.
3. Press the OPTIONS button on the DIC several times until the blank page is displayed, then press and hold the RESET button for two seconds.
4. When the message FOB TRAINING is displayed, press the RESET button once. The message HOLD LK + UNLK 1ST FOB will be displayed in the DIC .
5. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the first transmitter simultaneously for five seconds.
6. When a transmitter is learned (matched), the DIC will display FOB LEARNED and then prompt you to learn the second transmitter.
7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 for the third transmitter.
8. Remove the key from the ignition.
Also go into your DIC and run through your options for doors unlock/lock when going in/out of gear, twilight sentinal, alarm stuff, etc. Maybe with the battery change, some of that got changed.

My dads 1988 C4 doors will not unlock with either set of door keys. The vet is in the garage with doors locked and windows up. After reading this forum, it sounds like we need to get inside the car and check fuses and relays. How do we unlock doors to do this? Sure glad I don't have this problem with my C3.
