Default radio bezel/ center console

It seems like the outer coating of these items are pealing. Is there anything I can do fairly cheaply to make it look better? A interior paint??? Any suggestions? It's really bothering me

Not many mods for these that are cheap. Leather wrapping looks nice but is usually pretty expensive and you wouldn't want to do it yourself. You could sell the radio bezel to someone who wants a core to have modified then buy a new one in better condition.

Some people have painted their bezels and interior pieces and they look pretty good that way. Run a search on painted interior and see what you think. The only thing I'd be concerned about doing that is heat and glare...

There is also a carbon fiber look wrap out there for wrapping interior pieces. There was a thread on that not too long ago...

I seem to remember a DIY fix being posted but I dont have a link.

Dennis at Double D Mods can certainly refinish the surface for you. Give him a call.

Not looking to do something like that. I was mote so thinking on Sunday my next day off tackle it within a few hours....
I don't want a glossy console. I want a matte flat black to match the rest of interior. Which brand at autozone should I get?? Primer? Maybe plastidip????

I've got some Word files that may or may not help you out on refinishing the interior pieces. If you'd like a copy, PM me your e-mail address.

I had an issue with mine and called Dennis at DD. He suggested Dupli-Color Vinyl and Fabric Flat Black. It is a very good match. I even painted my airbag cover when I spilled super glue on it trying to fix my airbag dash letters which started to peel. Make sure you clean all old silicone sprays or other surface contaminants before spraying. Available at NAPA.

Though I haven't used it personally, I have heard that SEM makes a product that can replicate the semigloss finish and texture.

I've heard the same about the SEM products, I believe Dennis at Double D mods has mentioned this product in previous posts.

The above link wasn't my post but I do have some Di-Noc on my front emblem and liscense plate frame, although both of these are relatively new (less than 3 weeks). But I do remember seeing the guy say that the material on the door handle bezel came up a little.

Here's a link to the website that I bought mine from. You can find pricing on there.

(I forgot the rule on posting non-supported vendor links so hopefully this isn't against the rules)

Painting is a very good option, but it can be labor intensive, which can run the price up. I have done both my '99, and my wife's '01. I also went ahead and painted other dash parts to complete the look.
