Need an oven mit to remove the top
I went to remove the Targa top off my C5 which had been sitting in the sun for a few hrs on a nice 85 degree day. As I proceeded to unlock the top from the car I notice that the metal edges were so hot I could bailey touch it. I am sure others have had this problem just curious as to what they came up with for a solution.

Tough problem as those SOBs get hot. I had the smoked panel for my C4 and left it on all day at work once when it was sunny and in the 90's
Damn near had to go to the hospital after trying to take the panel off after work. Laugh if you will, but I started carrying microfiber towels. Served dual purpose. One was to help with top removal (still had to move quick) and the other was wiping anything that needed it.

I agree - microfiber towels work great on those hot days. However, if it is too hot, the top stays on.

I used it for the first time today. It was ~95 degrees out.
The metal frame inside, including the roof latch handles usually get blazing hot when sitting out in sun unprotected.
But, the CalPopTop kept it around 70 degrees. It was almost cool to the touch. The entire interior was equally cool.
I'm a believer and will be using it every day.
I have no affiliation with Cal Pop Top other than as a satisfied customer.

I haven't had my top on in 2 years. I don't drive my car in inclement weather, so it stays off all year. When I park it in the garage or store it for the winter I put my Carbrella on, which keeps the interior clean.

Melting Slicks
You convertible guys must have something different than my top because my vert handles get super hot too. I have to move quickly so my fingers don't fry. Good call on the microfiber towels - gonna keep one handy.

I used for the first time a pair of cloth garden gloves that I kept in the car for removing the top. I found them to be too slippery and will be replacing them with leather gloves this week

Another reason to keep some nice MF cloths in the car. I own a vert so I use mine on the center console when the interior gets hot to the touch.

The metal convertible frame and handles on the inside of a shale cloth roof got to 145° on a 93° day.
I measured the roof and removable top on a black coupe yesterday when it was 92°. All measurements were in direct sunlight:
Hood: 167°
Front Fender: 170°
Roof: 170° (tinted lexan)
Roof hoop: 177° (between removable roof and back glass)
Back glass: 167°
I don't care how manly you are, this is hot.
