Three words: Not. Exactly. Stock.

Although why anyone would sell such a car on CL is a really good question.

If you think a C5 with a "700 hp" LS7 "That is supposedly not FI" is capable of doing over 217+mph the Texas Mile your as delirious as the guy who posted it lol... Cars making 1000+RWHP cant even hit 217...

900+RWHP C5 doing 200

the laugh is on you. You obviously know nothing about automotive technology.

Let me help you get your foot out of your mouth.

with a claimed LS7 transplant I would have expected more details and a picture of the engine compartment at least.

if the car is legit with LS7 with even a half azz install this seems very feasible to me!

I would like to know how many people here actually built there cars and how many had a shop do it hahahaha. I built mine in my garage and tuned it, Im pretty sure everyone in this thread and a shop do there's. Now I can tell you from 1st hand experience what it takes to run 200mph, and the guy with the craigslist add is blowing smoke. Those who think a "Half azz LS7 install" is capable of this kind of performance needs to stay on youtube. How many people here have seen a non FI LS7 run 9 flat in excess of 150mph? How many have actually seen a FI LS7 run 9 flat in excess of 150mph? Now how many people have seen a bottom 9 car look like the car you just see in that craigslist add. I will tell you from experience once again that the tech at the Texas Mile would not even had let the guy run his car if it were capable of that nor would anyone in there right mind want to do it. Please continue now lol

For those mental midgets out there. This is a Mile, not a 1/4 mile. Its all about the gearing. Anyone looking to 217 mph is not running 390 or 373 gears You automotive geniuses seem to think this is a drag race. As I've pointed out so many times, there are so many legends in there own mind here who think they know something about 21st century automotive technology. The People scoffing at the thought that a properly prepared ( For the Mile ) LS7 with the proper tires and gears could never achieve this feat, are the people I warn newbies about being careful who they listen too here.

Buhahahaha. Ok let me break it down for you, NO its not a 1/4 mile race. Yes the 1/4 mile time is a indication of what a car is going to run in a 1/2 mile or 1 mile race "WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT WHAT IT MAY BE CAPABLE OF IN THE TOP SPEED OVER A LONGER DISTANCE". It takes a car that is capable of doing a low 9 in the 1/4 mile to reach 200mph in a 1 mile race. This is a race of raw acceleration. Your sitting here talking about gears! Ok you want to talk about gears, Here we go. Say we have a car that makes 850whp that has a 3.90 gear, That car can run a 1/4 mile hypothetically in 9.5 seconds @ 145 mph. Now to achieve that same time with say a 2.73 or 3.15 ratio that car would need to make at least a minimum of a 200hp more on average across the power band to make up the difference in rotation speed. Now genius, We are talking about a mile here, So now we are going a longer distance, When you get up in those 5th and 6th gears a car with "700"hp with a lower gear will never be able to accelerate fast enough to achieve those speeds because of load lol. Use your brain here, Its common sense and facts. Are you that delirious to the law of physics. I can see you play to many Forza video games to comprehend this. Please give me your explanation so I can laugh some more. Just to give you a idea of performance. A Veyron does the 1/4 mile in 9.4 seconds @ 146 mph bone stock, A bone stock Veyron also does 1 mile in 26 seconds @ 203mph ***** out. Soooooo, Please put your foot in your mouth because you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about if you are trying to sit here and say a C5 with a LS7 motor that is making 700 hp can do 217 mph in 5280ft from a dead stop with the argument of gearing. If he has a lower rear gear ratio he is going even slower in a mile hahaha

TTC6LS3 in case you don't know ET (Bill) he is a very founding member here and was on the design team that brought us the C5. He does not know everything..but as of yet there is little he doesn't know.

He spends a lot of time here trying to pass on the wealth of knowledge that comes from building a line of cars.

I would let this go.

I believe that the point is to the OP that a Vette with an LS7 could do what they said. You can call all you want. I will not debate this further. Just remember there are C5s out there capable of this type of 1 mile run.

My buddies 2000 C5R 427 Twin Turbo (1000+ rwhp) managed a 207mph in a standing mile.

I highly doubt that a 700HP C5 can reach 200mph in a mile.

217 mph that the Craigs list is stating is too funny...

What is this supposed to prove? It doesnt say which gears the guy has or how much power.

Years ago I had my Suzuki Samurai up to 71 mph on I80 in Nebraska while nestled behind a semi.

I feel dumber after reading a few of these posts
This car would not be able to hit 200 mph in a mile
