Default How's your winter project coming?

So I put the car away 2 weeks ago and am working on some things.

Added this Carbon Creations non carbon front spoiler but I narrowed it and set it back under the front cover and kept the factory deflectors.

Reworked my rad cradle to bring it back to the stock position.

Added this RK Sport hood but didn't like the styling dip plus I needed more clearance since I moved the A&A intercooler up

Added side skirts and some plastic mesh I had lying around

Reworked my BOV again into the back of the air filter since it still had a slight chirp and I want it silent.
Also cut up the rad cover and made it fit around the SC.

Maybe I'll paint the underside tomorrow.
For the face I'm thinking of some black stripes.
I think I'll do them with a spray bomb of lacquer
before I paint the hood to see how I like them.
I can sand them off and redo them once I decide what I like.

You have been busy in the last two weeks. Car is looking great with the mods you are doing.

Thanks for the compliments.
These cars are nice stock and a great value but a little plain on the details.
I also redid the interior over the summer and put in an 1100 watt rms stereo after I bought the car in July.
The SC I had installed and dynotuned to 540 rwhp which is plenty for me.
When I get it all done I'll post some more pics.
I used to be a bodyman which started when I crashed my dad's car into a ditch when I was 15 and my brother and I taught ourselves how to do bodywork and paint cars LOL!
We did all the neighbors cars cheap and they loved us
Serendipity is my middle name.

Now 40 years later I only do it for myself in between being an accountant and running a composite plastics press molding facility
with my brother and our staff.

I dropped my motor off at G & G Monday. They are closed until Jan 1 but
its there, also contacted one englandgreen and put my whiplash II on order!
I like the air scoop you have under the front!

I like the air scoop you have under the front!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/400380546072...84.m1497.l2649

It came like this but it stuck out too far and was too wide and looked too much like a plow for my liking

I narrowed it by 4 inches across and cut off the parts that go up into the wheelwells plus an extra inch as well as cutting it back to fit the intercooler intake.

I painted the underside of the hood last weekend and will probably do the top this weekend.
I put back the liner and added some extra insulation to take up the space and keep it quiet.

I also ordered some dry graphite pearl to add to clearcoat over the black stripes I'm going to paint on the hood and the back.

I also found these dual frame rollers that I like better than the single rollers and will put them in a little higher than in the pic say 1/2 inch below the frame when they arrive on Monday.

I added these fake brake vents but painted them the color of the car and blacked out the screening.

Painted the basecoat on my hood yesterday

Made the gaps all 1/4" when the hood is closed for the best tightest fit

Now I'll have to figure out the stripes

Also added the frame rollers but the wheels were too big so I cut them down to 1 3/4" diameter.

Looking good! I think it would look even better with the breathless performance rear brake ducts molded in from behind. It would go with your current lines. Keep updates coming!

I have to leave something for later
I'll digest these Z06 style ones for a while.
Maybe in the spring when I get bored
I could probably put them in and paint them on a weekend

Is this a thread asking us how our winter projects are going, or a thread of you rubbing it in that you have a lift to do all your winter projects?

I guess it's a rhetorical question
I'm not here to put anybody down but I suppose displays of pride can lead to envy
I just thought some people might be interested in my ideas and what I've been up to.
Just getting ready to paint the stripes on the hood.
Having a private lift where I can park my car for a month is sweet of course but 'rubbing it in" was not my intent.
I spent 30 years getting to this point in my life and have 50 thousand hours of handicraft experience

I'll post some more pics later today when I peel the paper back.

Ok got it painted and clearcoated.
Time to go home for Christmas Eve.
Can't see the graphite pearl in this pic but it sparkles
when I pass a light bulb over it.
Maybe I should have put more powder in the paint.
I can always redo it LOL! but probably not.
On the weekend I'll do the back stripes.
Should be great in the sun.

Ya I know

Almost done for now
Just the back stripes and some sound deadening material in the doors
and a liner for the trunk lid left to do until I think up some more things!
Put the curb alert module in yesterday but have to do the wiring and calibration.
Don't want to fubar my work in a parking lot.
Still have 2 months of winter to kill LOL!

I think I'm going to paint my calipers a medium blue like the color of that masking tape.
