Default Corvettemods trunk spring.

Just installed my Corvettemods trunk spring and it works great! Wish I had seen this a few broken fingernails ago.

I'm sure it's nice to have the trunk open all the way again.

I forgot that the boot was supposed to open.

You mean i don't need to continue to carry an small plastic tool to open the trunk?

I just though GM designed it with a minimalist perspective.

Glad you're happy but you lowered the value of the car since the minimal opening was developed by NASA sientists after years of research and it was a trademark of GM. Many other mauufacturers tried to replicate it but were caught up with patent infringement.
This probably sounds funny or exaggerated but it is factual.
Or not.

Unscrewed bumpers a 1/4 turn and she pops up a few inches now

I got one of these from Corvette Mods, when I installed it I didn't like the way the spring matched up with the bolt. So I modified it by welding a washer at one end, painted it black and now the spring fits flush with the bolt in the middle.

I always made sure my windows were up and I just shut my door. Trunk opens right up no problem.

I don't think the infringement clause would apply as it is an opening assist and not a final design function of the aerodynamics of their good looking *** end.

Just open the trunk and then shut the door. It'll pop up without having to buy a spring at 4500 percent markup

I just replaced the struts. Easy and not that expensive. If you want to use the spring, you can buy everything at the hardware store for a couple $$.

One of the first things I did to my '97 seven years ago was add a "trunk popper". It's a must have for most C5s.

Corvette sticky trunk lid does not open enough by froggy - YouTube
thanks for posting this...didn't want to add the popup thingy and don't really need new struts..I think this will work for me. Never even thought of it...too simple I guess.

I just slid a SS washer over the last coil before putting the bolt through the spring. The washer holds the spring in place better than the bolt head alone. For $22.00 shipped, Corvette Mods should have addressed this. If I did it again, I would buy the pieces from the hardware store for $5.00 and do it myself.

With a couple of washers and a coil spring from the Sears Hardware department, I was able to make my own for about $1.50.
