I'm sure it's nice to have the trunk open all the way again.

Glad you're happy but you lowered the value of the car since the minimal opening was developed by NASA sientists after years of research and it was a trademark of GM. Many other mauufacturers tried to replicate it but were caught up with patent infringement.
This probably sounds funny or exaggerated but it is factual.

I got one of these from Corvette Mods, when I installed it I didn't like the way the spring matched up with the bolt. So I modified it by welding a washer at one end, painted it black and now the spring fits flush with the bolt in the middle.

Just open the trunk and then shut the door. It'll pop up without having to buy a spring at 4500 percent markup

I just replaced the struts. Easy and not that expensive. If you want to use the spring, you can buy everything at the hardware store for a couple $$.

I just slid a SS washer over the last coil before putting the bolt through the spring. The washer holds the spring in place better than the bolt head alone. For $22.00 shipped, Corvette Mods should have addressed this. If I did it again, I would buy the pieces from the hardware store for $5.00 and do it myself.
