Rear Sway Bar Cracked
Hey guys, while I've had my C5 coupe in the shop I found out my rear sway bar is cracked. I'm on a bit of a budget since I've just dumped a few thousand into it just now but I'd still like to upgrade to something a bit better. I take the car to the drag strip once or twice a month and also drive it around town. I've heard the C6ZO6 rear sway bars fit the c5 coupes and are better... Is this true? Thanks for any help or anyone that can steer me in the direction to find one for a good price

Gene sells the C6 Z51 sway bar sets. They bolt right up and are quite a bit stouter then the factory C5 sets.

I added C5Z sway bars and it was a great improvement. I added mine back in 2005 but if I would do it today, I would go with the C6Z sways.

I put C6 Z51 bars on my '99 targa Z51 and C6 Z06 bars on my '99 FRC Z51 (both with metal end links).
Great improvement. Very little change in ride quality, but they corner much flatter.
Both the C6 Z51 and Z06/GS use the same front bar, but the C6 Z51 bar is a little smaller than the C6 Z06/GS bar.
I have read that the C6 Z06/GS rear bar is too big for the C5's unless they have a big rear tire like 325's or more. With smaller tires it will create an oversteer when driven hard.
On my two, I could not tell a difference between the C6 Z51 or C6 Z06/GS bars in normal driving, but I didn't push the C6 Z06/GS bars hard enough to find out.
Good luck with your choice.

The C6 Z06 sway bars would be a good addition to your car.

Thanks a lot guys... I guess I'll look around and try to find a C6Z51 rear sway bar. My rear tire is a 295. Definitely want something slightly better than the stock C5 base model rear sway bar.

I'm assuming in order to do the install, I will need to replace the bushings as well correct? Other than that it's a direct fit bolt-on upgrade?

I thought his post said that He (Gene) and GM PH where no longer in business with some buick place that handeld all the finances? But that he was still in business (GM PH) and just didn't have everyones old payment or order info anymore.
At least thats how i understood it all.
And Yes if you still can order the sway bars from Gene he includes new bushings for the bars front and rear. At least he used to so may check with him first if you go that route OP.

I got the upgrade ,2 bars and bushings from Gene in Carlisle this year , easy to install and made a big difference , but the ride is not harsh , pretty well rides the same except in the corners.
