Sometimes I wear my cycling gloves right after a bike ride. But I usually take them off after a few miles. Does that count?

If you're leaned over far enough to scrape your knuckles, you're probably in a situation where gloves aren't going to help a whole lot.

No, no and never. When I was a teenager in England many moons ago, they were considered "the thing" for posers, as we called them. Nowadays real competition drivers wear the fire resistant kind.
But, I have to admit to wearing gloves occasionally - when it is 20F or lower. And they are designed to keep my fingers warm.......C5's don't have heated steering wheels - or heated seats for that matter. Even cloth seats would be a big improvement over leather in winter - and summer! Not to mention you would not slide around anywhere near as much as you do with the C5's leather seats. My wife's Subaru Wagon cloth seats are rather better from a driving perspective that the C5 seats - grippier, more support, and heated too.

Not anymore, track racing of course, it's a good item to have as someone mentioned palms and fingers get mighty sweaty bare handed.
I have given it serious consideration again just because what I spent for an Apsis steering wheel. Otherwise I wouldn't wear them.

Oldtimer
Some don't want to admit it , but . . .
When it's 15 degrees out down here, and your starting off for work or someplace else, the leather wheel is frozen and it makes you joints in both hands ache. You can wait till the whole cabin warms up, but other than gloves your steering with two fingers of both hands. Putting up with the freezing knuckle pain is just male vainness'. If they had been smart enough to stick a pair of gloves in their pocket would make them "Less Manly" Foolish.
I have a pair and and a second if I forget the first set and I don't feel any less manly about wearing them.
What a load of crap !

I'd like to own a pair. My hands get very cold easily due to severe frostbite when I was very young. Today, 55f-65f here on the coast. It was great, except my hands got very stiff and cold. An hour and a half later, they are still trying to warm up.
A thin supple glove with no knuckle holes would be perfect for these cooler days on the coast.
