Low Oil Light - Oil level is fine?!
Has anyone had the Low Oil Light come on when the oil level is ok? I had it come on a few days ago, checked the level and it was within normal operating range. Drove it a few more days with no warning light, then it came on again. Then it went away. Seems to me like the oil level "meter" is not working right.

The Low Oil Level sensor is actually a temperature probe located at the back
of the oil pan. It relies on a temperature differential between the oil and
the coolant to determine if the level is actually low.
If you park on a decline or the back of the oil pan cools off quicker than normal
(ie. when you wash the car and spray the oil pan) chances are the Low Oil Level
warning will come up. It sometimes happens after an oil change, also.
It will typically take at least 3 ignition cycles or sitting overnight for the
warning message to clear.
Always rely on the dipstick.
