My MN6 is won't let me go into reverse unless I force it in there. I don't have to force it into gear, but have to force it over to the right not the up. It is at the dealer right now and last I talked to them they told me they had the tranny apart and they are guessing it is the snycro. Does this sound right or are they just guessing wrong as usual. My car is also in for a new fuel tank and steering wheel sensor (Service Vehicle Soon can't remember code of top of my head). The service advisor also said yeah "Reduced Engine Power" is up right now also. WTF that never came up before. I am way out of warranty but but the steering wheel sensor they are going to take care of under warranty and the fuel tank is also but I am not 100% sure. Thanks in advance for any advice on the tranny.
Do the following work?
1- put in 1st and drive forward about 1 foot, then can you go into reverse
2- let up the clutch a little and shift into reverse
If one of these work, there really is no problem...its just caracteristic of borg-warner transmissions. Usually only when cold...thats why some just shift into reverse before they cut there car off.

Don't you think this will be a bit difficult for him to do since he already said the car was at the dealer with the transmission apart?
Yep...it would be hard if the car was appart.... But he could have done it before hand or you can go see if they really have the trans apart now..service departments tend to say things like that
I have tried the usual, put into first and stuff. It is more like the selenoid has failed, but the dealer said syncros and I don't think that is the correct diagnosis, then again I am not a mechanic. Could it be the syncros when the symptom I am getting is sorta like the reverse lock-out has failed on lock.
